6th Grade

6th grade exploration form

Yearbook/Journalism - Journalism-Students will understand various text structures and use them in applications to communicate ideas and information within the school community. Using technology, students will work in groups and collaborate to publish a newsletter for the school.

Sports History - Students will examine the elements that make up the culture of sports that exist in the world today.

Film Accuracy - Students will analyze films based off of books, true events, or people and create a position on if Hollywood accurately displays them in film.

Fitness and More – Students will spend time going out into the community to learn various types of fitness classes and activities. Through the support and help of the community facilities, students will be exposed to as much as our community has to offer as possible.

Roots and Stems - Students will be exploring various greenhouse activities including flowers and vegetables. They will be planting seeds, bulbs, tubers and propagating house plants. They will learn how to transplant, fertilize, water, use grow lights, and create bucket gardens through projects and collaboration. They will learn how to maintain a greenhouse and study how a greenhouse works.

7th Grade

7th grade exploration form

Song Writing - Students will be introduced to the basics of songwriting. They will learn basic song structures, types of songs, the importance of collaboration, and creativity. They will also look at the effect songs/songwriters have had in history. Students will be exposed to recording songs and how that can influence the songwriting process.

Drama

Foreign Language - learn a foreign language through the skills of reading, writing, speaking, and listening.

Global Arts and Culture - Global Arts and Cultures - explore other cultures through common customs, unusual foods, and art.

American Pop Culture (Travel through time in America and learn the types of popular music and styles of the decades)

ND Outdoors - It will be hunting and fishing based, it will include Hunter’s Safety(hopefully), Boat and Water Safety, the Archery in the Schools program, and other hunting and fishing related topics (ecology, population studies, etc). We will also be doing a river watch program where we collect river water samples once or twice a month.

Yearbook - Yearbook- Students will learn how to create and produce a school yearbook. Students will focus on the elements of a yearbook, developing a theme, creating layouts and designs, using photography, writing, and editing. Students will also participate in the sale of the yearbook.

Graphic Art - Students will learn basic photoshop techniques to manipulate photos and create cool graphic art. They will use different devices and apps to take some of their own photos and focus on what to look for in a subject matter to create good design. We will also discover other digital tools that can be used for some comic book and animation styled design.
